Since the FACTA regulations have come into force, the vast majority of French banks have been unwilling to lend to US citizens.

Our client was an American, living and working in the UK. They had put in an offer for a holiday home in France and was looking to finance it with a mortgage.

After many discussions with a number of banks, we were able to find them a solution: a 20 year capped variable rate starting at 1.33% at a 68% LTV (typically 60% is the maximum any lender will consider for a US citizen). We also got the bank arrangement fees significantly reduced - to just €175!
