Welcome to Part 5 in our series about our Top Family-Friendly Ski Resorts in France! If you missed our posts onAvoriaz, Val d’Isère, Courchevel or Megève click here!

Moving further north, we come to one of the most popular ski resorts in the world - La Plagne. La Plagne comprises no less than 11 separate villages along the mountainside giving you the option to stay in a more traditional-style farming village such as Champagny en Vanoise, or a more commercial resort such as Les Coches. You will definitely want to explore this resort thoroughly to find the best ‘base’ location from the 11 villages should you decide to buy a second home here.

The resort is a great choice for beginners/ intermediate skiers due to the flattish slopes. Each of the resorts has ample childcare facilities. From an après-ski perspective, there are bowling alleys, cinemas, playground and plenty of bars, nightclubs and restaurants, as well as bobsleighing, a large zip-line, bikes, paragliding and ice skating for non-skiers.

The area is easily accessible by air via Chambery (transfer 1hr35), Geneva (transfer 2hrs15), Grenoble (transfer 2hrs10) or Lyon (transfer 2hrs15) airports. If you prefer to travel by train, you can get the fast TGV trains to Paris or Lyon and then onto Aime station, or take one of the dedicated 'snow trains' which run throughout the ski season. It takes about 40 minutes to an hour to get from Aime station depending on which resort you are at.

Offering reliable snow coverage, lots of wide and gentle slopes and a large variety of accommodation La Plagne is a great option for families.

For avid skiers, we are sure you will want to visit a few different resorts. But once you fall in love with an area, you may wish to look at buying property there so you can make the most of the ski season each year, and we would love to help you with that. Our highly trained team has an intimate knowledge of the property buying and French mortgages.
