French Mortgage Payment Holidays in light of Coronavirus

Whilst in the UK the banks have agreed with the Government to offer 3 month mortgage payment holidays in light of the Coronavirus, the situation for non-resident mortgages in France is a little less clear.

We have been in contact with a number of banks regarding the possibility of obtaining a mortgage payment holiday during the coronavirus pandemic. In the absence of any clear guidance from the French Government, the response from each bank has varied, with some offering a holiday and others offering a reduction in payments.
If you would like to request a payment holiday from your French mortgage, please contact the aftersales team using the details listed in your mortgage offer and any subsequent mortgage statements you have received. Please be aware that they are unlikely to reply immediately, as all banks are operating with a skeleton staff at the moment.

However, if you are struggling to find those details, please do get in contact and we will be able to furnish you with the relevant contact information.

We hope, that once the travel restrictions are lifted, you will be able to continue to enjoy your French home for many years to come.
